About Me...

Arjun

Hi, I’m Arjun, and I’m a 17 year old student with a passion for art. From a young age, I’ve always loved comics, and this appreciation led to an interest in illustration and cartoons. As someone who’s spent countless hours drawing, my sketchbooks strewn with various designs and characters. Aside from comics, I also enjoy observational drawing, human anatomy, and even digital art.

Despite a busy schedule balancing my academics and extracurriculars, I always make time to just sit down and draw. My dream is to become a professional illustrator and designer and I’ve planned out what I want the future to hold for me. For me, art isn’t just a hobby; it’s a lifelong passion that I aim to keep growing everyday.

How I Work

As a comic hand illustrator, my process blends traditional artistry with a touch of modern techniques. Creating vivid, engaging comic art requires not just skill but a deep passion for storytelling and an eye for detail.
Tools of the Trade I start with the basics: high-quality pencils, inks, and a variety of brushes. While I occasionally integrate digital tools, my heart lies with the tactile experience of traditional media.
Concept and Sketching Every project begins with an idea. I immerse myself in the script, visualizing the characters and scenes. I sketch rough thumbnails to capture the essence of each panel, focusing on composition and flow. This stage is all about experimentation and finding the right balance.
Detailed Pencils Once the thumbnails are approved, I move on to detailed penciling. Here, I refine the sketches, adding intricate details and ensuring the characters’ expressions and poses convey the intended emotions. This step is crucial for laying a strong foundation for the inking process.  Inking Inking is where the magic happens. Using fine liners and brushes, I go over the pencil lines, adding depth and contrast. This step requires a steady hand and patience, as it’s easy to make irreversible mistakes. Inking brings the characters to life, giving them a bold, dynamic presence. When needed, I use watercolors or markers to bring a vibrant touch to the illustrations. Shading and highlights are meticulously applied to enhance the three-dimensional effect and add mood to the scenes. I review each page carefully, ensuring consistency and coherence. I make any necessary adjustments, refining the details to achieve a polished look.
